Insect Services performs tests for evaluating the efficacy of fly traps in accordance with the guidelines provided by the European Commission. We carry out tests with:
- Fly baits
- Adhesive tapes
- Others on request
Fly baits (windows fly baits)
For this product test, we have a specially equipped test room. Common House Flies can fly under “simulated use”- conditions in an open flying room with sufficient water and food (Fig.1). Fly baits are attached to the window. We observe how many flies are killed and quantify how many dead flies are found at a certain distance from the bait (Fig. 2).

UV light attracts various flying insects, including flies. In commercial kitchens and food processing plants such devices for trapping flying insects are mandatory. We test such traps in an open flying room. Figure 3 shows a UV lamp trap. Flying insects are attracted to the UV light, and subsequently become trapped on the adhesive surface.
